Activate and move your key

Where your key arrives

In the receipt email from the shop you bought from: Dodo Payments for this site. A key bought here also shows on the thank-you page. Check spam if it is not there in 5 minutes.

Activate

Open Hextion in After Effects. Open Settings > Licence, paste the key and press Activate. The trial chip disappears and nothing else changes.

Move to a new computer

On the old computer, open Settings > Licence and press Remove key here. Then activate on the new one. A key bought here is freed at once.

Working offline

Hextion checks the key about every 10 days while it is open, quietly. It keeps working offline for up to 20 days after the last good check. After that it asks to go online once.

Lost your key?

Search your email for the receipt from Dodo Payments. Still nothing? Write to support@gethextion.com from the email you paid with, and include roughly when you bought it.

When the trial ends

Hextion asks for a key. Everything you built stays in your projects. Buy a key on the pricing page and paste it in Settings > Licence.

Refunds and your key

A refunded purchase switches the key off. Hextion notices at its next check and asks for a key again.

Key not accepted

Copy the whole key without spaces. A key works on one computer at a time: if it is active on your old computer, press Remove key here there first. Still no? Write to support with the email you paid with.

What the licence check sends

During the trial, nothing. When you activate or recheck: your key and Hextion's product ID; for a key bought on this site, also a label with the word Mac or Windows and a short random code, never your computer's name. Hextion asks the shop that sold the key, and the other shop if the first does not recognise it. Like any internet request, the shop sees your IP address. No project data, no analytics.
